Your holiday between lake and mountains

The villages of Trarego Viggiona have a population of 400. The area is part of the region known as Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. The territory covers an area which ranges in levels from 300 to 1.814 meters above sea level.
Trarego, Cheglio and Viggiona are three villages of rural origin. Immersed in green woods at the foot of Monte Carza, from which an enviable panoramic view of Lake Maggiore can be admired. The natural terraces on which the three villages are situated is known as "Conca Verde".
Cheglio, where the Residence Usignolo can be found, is a little village with an antique rural atmosphere. Its narrows streets and houses consctructed of stone have been rediscovered in recent years by those who love serenity and peace. The south-facing ex-glacial valley in which the residence is situated permits the enjoyment of a mild climate during the winter period, a characteristic which, coupled with the pleasantness of the area makes this an attractive area for tourism. All this has encouraged the opening of holiday homes, apartments, B&B and the supply of rooms for rent.

Trarego Viggiona is easily reached from Cannero Riviera in just 10 minutes following the panoramic provincial street which continues towards the Colle Pass (1.238 mt.) and returns to Verbania.

As well as trekking there are also many pleasant easy walks along old mule tracks and rural lanes, from Trarego and Cheglio down to Cannero, from Viggiona to Cannobio, or rising towards Colle passing the Passo della Piazza where you find the oratorio of Sant'Eurosia.
The lush woods which surround the village permit us to discover an old world made up of old terraces which were once used to cultivate grapes thanks to the mild climate. The grassy clearings with old preserved rural constructions made of stone and higher up the mountain refuges set in harmony with the enviroment.

Along the coast beneath the higher planes of lake maggiore we find the lake resorts of Cannobio, Cannero Riviera, Oggebbio and Ghiffa. Surrounded by nature, with splendid villas and gardens which surround old historical centres. You can also enjoy a spectacular view of the swiss and lombardy coast line. The coastal area offers the choice of many beaches, some with very characteristic bars. Many water sports are available for your enjoyment.
